Janus: David Scotney, Johnny Salazar, Alan Quitman, and Mike Tyranski

Janus formed in 1998 and that same year released Influx, a 12 track CD issued through Mirror Records with a sound similar to The Smashing Pumpkins, Tool, and Soundgarden. In 2004 Janus released their second album, titled Armor containing 9 tracks of a more modern Alternative Metal sound. In 2007, director Noah Shulman shot a music video for their demo version of “If I Were You” in an ink factory in Chicago, Illinois in support of their third upcoming album, Red Right Return, which was released in 2008 through Level It Records/Glass Bottom Boat Music. A new drummer Johnny Salazar completed the band’s line-up in 2007. He was in Shades of Fiction as their drummer from 2003 until the summer of 2007. He was also the drummer for the band Relative Ash from 1996 until 2002. Death Grip Clothing Endorsed Band- Allele

Posted 11 Nov 2011 in Signed Bands

Death Grip Clothing is excited to announce an endorsement deal with the Hard Rock band Allele. You can read their bio below.

Bio:

Allele was formed in 2002 by Wally Wood and ex-Otep guitarist Lane Maverick (who had also played in earlier projects with members of Shinedown) and later joined by Tim Tobin (bass), Giancarlo Autenzio (drums) and Kelly Hayes, formerly of Cold. After refining their sound and gaining live experience, they were signed by Corporate Punishment Records, an independent record label which had previously been associated with Cold. The band started to work on their debut LP titled Point of Origin, with producer Ben Schigel, who has previously worked with such artists as Chimaira and Bleed the Sky.
Allele describes their sound as “hard rock with a new feel” and Point of Origin has been received with a good amount of positive reviews. The band completed a tour with label mates Switched and A New Revolution (featuring ex-Unloco frontman Joey Duenas).
Allele has been voted #5 Best Newcomer of 2005 in the Gauntlet’s Year End Poll alongside Through the Eyes of the Dead, Gizamachi, The Jacknife and the Red Death.
On June 29, 2006, it was revealed via Allele’s MySpace blog that vocalist Wally Wood had left the group. The explanation given from the remaining members was the following: “Unfortunately when you put 5 people in a van for months at a time, every once in a while, one of them doesn’t get back in”. A fill in singer was immediately announced as the new vocalist and that the band would continue to tour. Allele would spend the rest of the fall touring with 10 Years and Evans Blue.
Allele’s track Stitches was featured in trailers and promos for TNT’s Stephen King anthology series, “Nightmares and Dreamscapes”. That song also appears on the 2006 game WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2007.
On 14 August 2007, it was announced by a close friend of the band that Allele had broken up. This has since been confirmed by the moderator of their website. Little else is known about the current state of its members, although rumors have surfaced about a possible second project featuring at least three of the four remaining members.
Frontman Wally Wood of the Jacksonville, Florida-based hard rockers Allele has issued the following update: “I am back. Sorry I have been away a while and glad to hear you all have been still rockin out to the last album Point Of Origin. So here we are in 2008 and you may wonder what is next? I have read a couple of hundred pages of inquiries in our inbox regarding the next step for Allele. Well, first step is, the first show we will play is August 30 at Freebird remix Live in Jacksonville, Florida. After that, we will start recording the next album. We have a lot of work ahead because we want this next album to blow you away. Be patient (like you have been!) but I am telling you it is coming. Hopefully by the end of this year. But, if you want to see the band live, I suggest coming to Jacksonville because there will not be any other shows anytime soon after August as we prepare to hit the studio. Whatever promises you have heard in the past, know that this is for real.’’
On August 30, 2008 the band played a show in Jacksonville, Florida where they performed songs from their debut album Point of Origin. Songs performed included; Immune; Stitches; A Different Someone; Unknown; Closer To Habit; Tightrope and Misunderstood. On the bands myspace page Kelly Hayes stated that they are planning to write and record the new album, stating a mid 2011 release date.
In May 2011, they tracked the music at A1A studios in Jacksonville, Fl. Wally Wood then flew to Laguna, Ca to then track the vocals with engineer Pete Charell (bassist for Trapt) at Dexter Dog Studios and since are having their sophomore album Next to Parallel, mixed and mastered at MyPlatinumSound by Paul Lapinski (Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Alicia Keys, Evergreen Terrace, Inspection 12, Yellowcard, Indorphine).
Allele plan to release their new studio album “Next to Parallel” on September 27, 2011. The band also stream the new track What I Get in June, 2011. It was a free download for a limited. Also the band start touring in August 2011.
The first single of new album “Let it Go” will be released on August 15, 2011. Next To Parallel will be available in Europe on October 31st. Allele have announced plans for a tour with The Chaos Agent.

Death Grip Clothing Endorsed Band- Adelitas Way

Adelitas Way: Trevor Stafford, Derek Johnston,Rick DeJesus, Keith Wallen, and Rob Zakaryan

AdelitasWayMusic.com

Home School Valedictorian, the sophomore CD from Las Vegas quartet Adelitas Way,
earns an “A” for execution, even managing to top the band’s forcefully compelling 2009
self-titled debut and its chart-topping single “Invincible.” On Home School Valedictorian,
Philly-born singer/songwriter Rick DeJesus pens lyrics that are full of relatable pain and
pathos in songs like memorably intense rockers “Sick,” and “The Collapse,” rife with
heavy, edgy, melodic musicality, creating modern hard rock at once both eloquent and primal.

The last two years have been nothing short of amazing for Adelitas Way—playing at the
2010 Jets/Patriots game, touring arenas with bands including Theory Of A Deadman and
Shinedown, their song ‘Scream” in Saw 3D , not to mention “Invincible” becoming the
official theme song for WWE Superstars and used on the ‘CSI: Miami” finale. Yet while
DeJesus’ gratitude, positivity and charisma is palpable, he often comments lyrically on
the darker side of humanity. “The title Home School Valedictorian reflects the fact you
meet a lot of people who are ungrateful for the things they’ve been given in life,” the
singer notes. “When I think of a ‘Home School Valedictorian,’ I think of someone who’s
spoiled and very into themselves, they think they’re the only reason that the world’s
going around. I think that’s the opposite of what our band is; we’re very humble guys,
we’re very easygoing, we’re very outgoing. The fact that I get to wake up and play for
fans and play music, I’m beyond fortunate. But I’ve met a lot of people who don’t see it that way.”

While AllMusic said Adelitas Way “sizzles with rage, sex, and regret … the band kicks
up enough noise to satisfy even the most dogmatic hard rock junkie,” Home School
Valedictorian manages to be all that and more. Produced by “Invincible” co-writer Dave
Bassett (Shinedown, Josh Groban, Halestorm) and engineered by Tadpole (Disturbed,
Finger Eleven), the 11-song CD was recorded in late 2010 at Malibu’s Chateau Relaxo
studio, and showcases the band’s lyrical and musical growth. Both DeJesus’ early life in
a rough Philly neighborhood rife with drugs and violence, as well as more recent events,
inform AW’s songs. “The number one reason I wrote ‘Sick’ is because I’m a blue collar
guy, I come from a working family, I’ve worked my entire life,” he relates. “Sometimes
when your hard work is not recognized or you get fed up with everything, with not
having any money, it comes to a point where you’re like, ‘I’m sick of this.’ ‘Sick” is an
anthem for all the people who are sick of not getting to live the dream that they wanted to
live, because I felt that way at one point in my life, despite all my hard work. But
fortunately it ultimately paid off for me, but I’ll never forget where I came from, or the
hope I have for hard-working, good people.” Like their songs, even the band name came
via an emotional real-life experience—from an extreme encounter/adventure at an
infamous Tijuana bar/brothel called Adelita Bar in their early days of band-dom.
Another powerfully personal stand-out on Home School Valedictorian is the tune
“Alive.” DeJesus notes, “I didn’t want to make a record that was full of negative
moments in my life. ‘Alive’ is about the positive moments. It’s about being in love and
feeling great, having that feeling where everything feels right, you feel so invigorated.
You’re enjoying life, you’re cruising with your windows down, driving to San Diego,
getting ready to go to the beach, what’s not to like? If somebody’s having a bad day, I
feel like they can pop that song in and it can turn their day around.” The song “I Want to
Be,” co-written with Tyler Connolly from Theory of a Deadman, is about today’s socalled
‘rock stars,” who are no more than tabloid celebretards. “They don’t have talent,
they don’t write songs, they have nothing that they’re offering the world except, “Oh,
look at me, watch my show,’” observes DeJesus. “So the song is really saying, ‘I want to
be the one who’s getting lucky and not having to do anything; you’re famous for nothing.’”

While Adelitas Way was a stellar introduction to the band, Home School Valedictorian
defines and hones the lineup’s sound. “This CD is a massive step up. We didn’t say, ‘Oh,
we did great on our first record, let’s redo it.’ We set the bar so high on this record, we
really tried to outdo ourselves,” DeJesus explains. “Sure, we love bands like Three Days
Grace and Breaking Benjamin, but I don’t want to sound like anyone else. I want people
to hear us on the radio and say, ‘That’s Adelitas Way.’”

Indeed, both on tour and off—and on record—it’s clear Adelitas Way are a tightknit
bunch. While most bands can’t wait for the luxury of big tour buses and new homes,
Adelitas Way are just the opposite. They tour in a van, and are getting a band house
together in Vegas. As DeJesus explains: “I tend to be a reasonable, practical person, and
the number one thing I want to do is make sure the band can live. There was a point
where I feel we could have gotten into a bus, but financially, I wanted to make sure we’re
always smart with our money. We don’t tour the country just to tell people ‘I’m in a
fancy bus.’ We pull our van and trailer we drag with all our gear up to the venues and
bust out the barbecue and the lawn chairs and hang out and just enjoy ourselves.” That
camaraderie is clear in the grooves of Home School Valedictorian: “We love each other,
that’s what I think makes this record so special. This was more of a band album than our
debut, very much a total collaborative effort.”
In keeping with their all-for-one-and-one-for-all outlook, Adelitas Way won’t leave a gig
until every waiting AW fan has met the band or gotten autographs. “I mean, we’ve
played at festivals for 75,000 people, our first single (“Invincible”) broke top five at
active rock, and it’s all because of the people who listen to us,” says DeJesus. “We’ll
never forget that. We’re blessed.”

Death Grip Clothing Endorsed Band- Bonz

Posted 02 Nov 2011 in Signed Bands

Stuck Mojo trail blazed the rap-rock genre by melding their heavy metal-bred Southern heritage with a frontman (Bonz)who bled hip-hop. Formed in 1989 by guitarist Rich Ward, Stuck Mojo set out to experiment with this genre-blending musical hybrid, inspired by bands such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Faith No More, Run DMC and Black Sabbath. They quickly acquired a regional reputation as a band who would beat you down, call you names, and help you back up for some more.

When Stuck Mojo’s first release, “Snappin’ Necks,” appeared in the mid-90′s they were something of a phenomenon to some and a question mark to others. Daring to be different in a non-socially acceptable way, they challenged the system musically and broke down barriers.

For years the band had been building a loyal fan base in rock clubs all across America, but their first big tour came in October of 95 when they were asked to join Machine Head as their opening act on a ten-week stint of North America. That was followed by the band’s first European tour, an eleven week run hitting Germany, France, Italy, England, Austria, Denmark, Poland, Belgium and the Czech Republic. On the last show of the tour, STUCK MOJO performed on the main stage at the prestigious Dynamo Festival in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Having just been named the year’s best live band by MTV Europe, many rock journalists covering the event noted that STUCK MOJO was the highlight of the show.

The band would go on to tour with Pantera, Testament, Life Of Agony, Type O Negative, The 24/7 Spyz, Sevendust and Clutch. Seven Day Sonnet is an American progressive rock group from Chicago, Illinois. In 2009 Seven Day Sonnet’s debut album release “Reprisal” produced by Brett Hestla of Dark New Day and Creed was released. In 2010 they signed with California label BigTime Records. In 2011 their single release ‘Hapless’ broke top 40 on the Active Rock charts. They are currently writing new material and touring the US.

After the disbandment of Ziel, Anthony, Jordon and Steve decided to rejoin to form a new Hard Rock group. Rick and Ben joined shortly after and began contributing to the writing process immediately. A two-song demo was released in November 2007, and was well received in the Chicago music community.

In March 2008, Seven Day Sonnet being playing their first shows. Drawing fans of different genres together, they began making an impact in Chicago and beyond. 7DS entered the studio in April 2008 to start tracking a new 3-song demo with Shea Villwock of Glasswall Productions.[3] Production wrapped in early May, with the mastering of the demo done with Blaise Barton of JoyRide Studios in Chicago. To be released on July 18, 2008, the demo consists of “My Day Is Over,” “Jamie” and “Ben’s Blue Coat.” Shortly after completion of the demo, Steve Floro was fired due to conflicts within the band, postponing original plans for a full length album. In July 2008 Dan Kashuck (Emetic, 7th Vial) was hired to fill the drumming position in the band.[4]

Seven Day Sonnet entered the studio on February 16, 2009 to track their independent, debut full-length album “Reprisal” with producer Brett Hestla of Dark New Day and Creed fame. Brett was chosen due to “his experience with this type of music” according to Jordon.[5] Album art was later created by friend and fellow Chicago musician David Scotney of the band Janus. The album was released on July 18, 2009 at famous Chicago venue, The Metro.

Seven Day Sonnet spent the rest of 2009 hitting the Chicago scene hard and opening for various national acts on select dates including Lacuna Coil, Killswitch Engage, Disturbed, Attack Attack!, The Chariot and more.

In July 2010 Seven Day Sonnet signed with Robert Beadles and his California based label, BigTime Records. The band was then immediately flown out to California for a preliminary recording session with producer Sylvia Massy (Tool, System of a Down, Powerman 5000) and then to Chicago’s Johnny K in October(Disturbed, Sevendust, Avenged Sevenfold)to record their 2011 singles.

Shortly after the Sylvia session, Jordon and the band split due to differences. Lead guitar duties are now held by the band’s former guitar tech, Mike Scarlata.

Seven Day Sonnet is currently on tour with many house hold name bands. Their single “Hapless” at the time of this edit is #36 on the active rock charts.

They are scheduled to release their next single in September 2011 and full length album in early 2012.

Death Grip Clothing Endorsed Band- The Chaos Agent

Posted 01 Nov 2011 in Signed Bands

The Chaos Agent have an explosive and energetic presence. When these guys hit the stage, the mood goes from party to pandemonium; zero to sixty – in one second. The vibe in the venue literally changes the moment they hit the stage. Taking in a show is an intense experience of high energy that mixes a perfect variation of heavy rock riffs with melodic, intensely catchy vocals. This gives the band a signature sound that, hands down, puts these guys in a league of their own. The Chaos Agent has made a huge dent in the Southwest Florida Music scene collectively as a band. Each member brings a plethora of experience and talent to the forefront, which has contributed greatly to their almost immediate recognition and success in the region. They have an impressive fan base locally, packing venues from front to back. The band gains an ever increasing amount of support each time they hit a new club or theater. Having commercial radio support from local South Florida stations along with plenty of internet chatter, this has been a major accomplishment for them so early in their career. Away-Team.com heralded The Chaos Agent with a shining review of a pre-release version of their E.P. saying, “…It’s not hard to imagine The Chaos Agent being played right next to your Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace favorites on every station on the planet! I detect a huge hit for sure….” The Chaos Agent has worked with well known and seasoned producer Paul Trust (Diecast, Atom Smash, ect..) for their upcoming release with Bellaphon Records. They are currently working with producer Matt LaPlant of Bieler Bros. Studios (Skindred, Barry Gibb, Methods Of Mayhem, ect.) for future releases. The Chaos Agent has shared stages with well known bands such as Skindred, Stabbing Westward, Flaw, Bullet Boys, Ventana, and many others. They have also played an eclectic mix of shows including the Miami Music Festival.

Death Grip Endorsed Band- Society 1

Posted 01 Nov 2011 in Signed Bands

Society 1 captures the essence of abuse, overkill and ultimate inspiration…”

One of the many quotes that describe what Society 1 has become since their inception. Love or hate what Society 1 stand for, no one can argue with the controversial recognition of this band. They have pushed limits that didn’t even exist in terms of their live body suspension performances. They have blurred the lines of music credibility versus sexual exploration. At one point within the bands career lead singer Matt “The Lord” Zane created an entire philosophy based on his lyrical messages which ultimately lead to him publishing the book “Doctrines of the Infernal Process”.

This band is not ordinary. Society 1 isn’t just about music. To look at them as just a band would mean to deny what they actually are, a social experience and cult art statement. This forces one to consider the possibility that a band, on rare occasions, can be much more than four guys playing music.

After such infamous accomplishments there would seem to be nothing left to prove or in Society 1 terms, nothing left to pervert and destroy. After a five year hiatus and some reflection on the ruins left in the past Society 1 agree. The band has resurfaced with a new sound and image finally focused on the one thing that seemed to always be an afterthought….the music.

For the first time in the bands sordid career they let go of their kill or be killed mentality and welcome people to hear a more intimate and honest aspect of their existence. The depth of the new album “A Journey From Exile” will bring the listener on a journey that one would never expect especially from a band steeped in endless controversy such as Society 1
